Long Island, NY || George Weir Barn || 10.15.16
Like most couples in wedding-planning mode, Traci and Jesus spent plenty of time making sure the most important people in their lives were included on their guest list. This was an especially exciting time for the groom’s family, as most of them had never been to New York before (they’re from Southern California).
Among the dozens of guests they invited were some of the most high-profile people in this country: Mr. and Mrs. President Obama and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Clinton. Although they didn’t send back the RSVP cards included in the invitation, they did respond!
The Zamoras don’t know President Obama or Hillary Clinton personally, but as longtime supporters thought it was worth a shot. They’d heard the White House replies to messages about all life events but weren’t sure if the Democratic Presidential Candidate would. Clinton’s message arrived one day before the Obamas’ note card and they were ecstatic about both!
None of them showed up, but really- it was their loss.
Traci and Jesus organized a spectacular event to celebrate their union. Everything was thoughtful, creative and represented the dynamic love they have for each other.
They transformed the historic George Weir Barn into a space into two themes: Mexican fiesta and rustic forest. Two cellists entertained guests leading up to the ceremony and played Hamilton’s “That Would be Enough” as Traci made her grand entrance. After that, it was time to PARTY!
A mariachi band entertained guests during the cocktail hour, which also included some fun with a pinata. This thing didn’t have candy in it though. Instead, they filled it with mini-bottles of alcohol!!(#genius)
The party continued inside the barn, which stuck to their themes. The centerpieces were custom-made terrariums filled with things meaningful to them, including handmade figurines that looked JUST LIKE THEM. A string of custom made papel picado hung from the elevated ceilings. Such a nice touch!
The Zamoras had so many other details I’ve never seen before. They had a flowerless wedding, with Traci carrying a succulent bouquet and Jesus wearing a succulent boutonniere. Both the bouquet and boutonniere been replanted in pots in their home and serve as a reminder of the #schizam wedding.
Their flower girl did carry flowers, but they were made out of two maps: New York and Los Angeles (to represent where they’re from!) Maps were also used in the signage to let guests know about the specialty drinks being poured at their celebration. (I told you they thought of everything)
Last but not least: the couple gave out Mexican luchadores bottle openers and had an amazing way to display their favors: a poster using images of them in their lucha libre halloween costumes from last year! Guests also arrived to their seats to find their name in gold acrylic.
Traci and Jesus spent one year planning this event and take pride in knowing every decision was made together. And the best part was that they did it without any fights (even with one semi-major hiccup!)
With their big day and honeymoon behind them, the Zamoras are focusing on the next most important thing: finding a place to hang the wedding greetings they received from Hillary Clinton and the First Couple. They’re getting framed now, but Traci and Jesus say they plan on putting them on display along with a poster they bought of President Obama while they were in Cuba.
Yet another good idea by the Zamoras. Congratulations to the happy couple!
